| With the rapid development of urbanization, livelihood issues brought by urbanization such as employment, inhabitant trip, environment and ecology are highlighted, and it brings more attention to the quality of people’s life. The ultimate goal of social development is the development of ’people’. Scientific development concept promots’ people-oriented’. Focusing on the subjective feelings of people is also the inevitable requirement of building a harmonious society and the new urbanization constriction. Nanjing city has a good superiority in ecological, cultural, social and economic basis, to build a livable city is in line with the needs of urban development and inhabitant’s demands. From the view of geography and livable city construction oriented, the paper evaluates the status of residents’ life satisfaction in Nanjing city, and then explores its influencing factors so as to provide basis for decision making for livable city planning. This study not only conducive to further supplement and improve life satisfaction related theory and evaluation methods, but also conducive to provide basis for decision making of livable city planning and construction for the residents’ different demands. Therefore, this study has important theoretical and practical significance.This paper first introduces the research background and significance, the theoretical basis and the recent progress in research on life satisfaction and livable city is reviewed. Besides, the research contents, methods and technical routes are introduced. Then, the index system of residents’life satisfaction and questionnaire design is constructed. This paper analyzes the good foundation of livable city construction of Nanjing city. Using data from the questionnaire and Baidu map, this paper evaluates the current situation of Nanjing residents’ life satisfaction, and analyzes the spatial distribution of the residents’ life satisfaction using GIS and GeoDa software. Subsequently, using SPSS software to build a regression analysis model, the main factors affecting residents’life satisfaction and the impact of residents with different socio-economic attributes on life satisfaction is analyzed. Finally, the livable city planning and construction strategies are proposed according to the results of the study and different levels of demand of residents. The main results of the study are as follows:(1) The overall evaluation of residents’life satisfaction in Nanjing city has reached the general level. The seven main indicators of life satisfaction are arranged in order:interpersonal relationship, health status, public service, entertainment, overall evaluation, subjective feelings, job and living environment. In sub indicators, housing prices, job, environmental pollution, medical, education and social security need to be urgently improved.(2) At the administrative level, the overall evaluation of residents’ life satisfaction is little differentiated, but evaluation of the main indicators still has certain differences. Difference of residents’ life satisfaction at street level is significantly higher than that of the administrative level. Residents’ life satisfaction presents obviously spatial correlation characteristics.(3) The spatial distribution characteristics of residents’ life satisfaction is " downtown< sub-cities < suburbs". Spatial distribution of evaluation of the main indicators of residents’ life satisfaction is similar with the overall evaluation.(4) Bettered life service facilities does not necessarily correspond to higher life satisfaction, the spatial distribution of life service facilities in Nanjing city shows a high level of development around the middle and low level features in brim area, which is different from the spatial distribution characteristics of residents’ life satisfaction.(5) The social environment, physical environment, economic factors, individual characteristics all have influence on life satisfaction, but the influence is gradually weakened.(6) There is a significant relationship between different residence, gender, age, education, occupation, income, marital status, family structure of residents and different realms of residents’ life satisfaction in different degree. But in general, the explanatory power of individual attributes’ influence on life satisfaction is relatively weak. |
