Purpose: Currently, there is not much study about the rest interval between the different groups of resistance exercise for strength and muscle hypertrophy of research, and the research conclusion is controversial, rest interval between self-suggested on studies of the impact strength and muscle hypertrophy is more unusual to report. In training practice, rest interval is not only for the training of coaches control requirements; the trainer may also produce a certain psychological pressure. Therefore, this study will be checking the resistance training through the experiment testing, the fixed interval and self-suggested rest intervals on strength and muscle hypertrophy. Expect the study help strength training in the future practice and relevant research reference. Methods: Participants: There were 24 male college students in Beijing Sport University.(1) Experimental design: there were randomly divided into 3 groups(each group of eight people) for nine weeks of resistance exercise, 2 weeks before training for the preparation period. 2 times a week, the training content for the squat and bench press, training load for the four groups of 10 RM, rest intervals respectively are 1 minute, 3 minutes, and self-suggested.(2) Data collection: upper and lower limb circumference: training before and after using the 3D Scan scanner to measure participants’ degree of upper arm and thigh circumference. Upper and lower power: training before and after using ISOMED2000 with 1 RM test method on the subjects. Testosterone and cortisol testing: the subjects before and after training for the first time and last time take blood samples, using Beckman Coulter DXI800 chemical luminescence immunity analyzer to test the participants’ testosterone and cortisol.(3) Data analysis: the data collected by paired sample t test and independent samples t test, p < 0.05 showed significant difference, p < 0.01, said a very significant difference. Results:(1) Upper and lower limb circumference degrees: under three different rest intervals(1 minute, 3 minutes and self-suggested), upper and lower limb muscle circumference degree increased, and no significant differences between groups.(2) The powers of their upper and lower limb: under three different rest intervals(1 minute, 3 minutes and self-suggested), the Maximum strength has increased significantly; there was no significant difference between groups.(3) Hormone levels: three groups were significantly higher testosterone levels immediately after exercise, no significant differences between groups. And cortisol levels before and after training did not show the difference. Conclusions:(1)There were no significant differences between groups for increases in 1 repetition maximum strength、arm and thigh MCSA among different rest intervals on Resistance Exercise.(2)There were no significant differences between groups for testosterone and cortisol among different rest intervals on Resistance Exercise-Induced Muscle Hypertrophy.(3) As can be controlled by practitioners self-suggested rest intervals on Resistance Exercise according to their actual situation, not only can reduce the psychological and physical pressure and training arrangement can be more flexible.
