"Migrant children", namely the children of "floating population" in the cities, is a special group driven and formed by the development of China’s market economy. Migrant children in urban villages constitute the major part of the migrant children in China. In urban villages, most migrant children’s parents are not well educated and always busy with their livelihoods, resulting in limited care to their children’s safety. Migrant children often stroll and play in the places of markets and streets with heavy traffic, construction sites, ponds and other dangerous places, and these are doubtlessly potential security risks.Longxin Community in Longgang District of Shenzhen is a community gathering a large number of migrant children. The local government attaches great importance to the safety of migrant children group. By a combination of government funding and the public resources, as well as entrusting the third parties such as social work agencies to be responsible for the specific operations, the local government and other organizations work jointly to prevent and solve the security problems among migrant children.Longxiang Social Service Center which was established in December 2007, is the first non-profit professional social service agency in Longgang District. Longxiang Social Service Center then successfully won the bidding commissioned by the local government to solve the security problems among migrant children. In the form of a project, the front-line social workers of Longxiang, with their professional social work theories and methods, made social work intervention to the migrant children safety issues."An Quan (Security) Express", the project launched by Longxiang to prevent security problems and improve self-rescue ability of migrant children, introduced the experiential education and the "experiential public welfare+ new media" services to improve migrant children’s awareness of safety and solve the security problems. From the perspective of empirical research, this thesis aims to evaluate the results of the "An Quan (Security) Express" project on security problems prevention and self-rescue ability improvement among the migrant children. By exploring whether this project’intervention on public safety issues of migrant children is valid, and on this basis rethinking the successful outcomes as well as insufficient aspects of the social work intervention, this evaluation will provide experience on intervention of migrant children security in the context of social work localization, and further more experience on solving the public security problems among urban migrant children.
