As a part of the employment, the employment situation of higher vocational college graduates has an important impact on the overall employment. Higher vocational college students has certain particularity, they lack the ability of autonomous learning, lack of capacity, but they are eager to get higher paying jobs, and unrealistic expectations. They lack of theoretical knowledge of vocational college graduates, the actual operation ability,.They are poor in professional performance.They can not meet the needs of the employers for the high skilled personnel.ALL these facts lead them to leave far away from a satisfactory job, and high skill jobs in enterprises appear a large number of vacancies, a contradiction exists between supply and demand. At this time, the local government should play its public service functions, supervising the construction of higher vocational colleges, forming the butt joint with local enterprises, and developing the employment policies for the higher vocational college graduates.After analyzing the special characteristics of the graduates in higher vocational colleges, this paper analyzes the employment situation of a vocational college in Chuzhou and the preferential policies of the local government. And based on the analysis of the results, the paper tries to find out the inadequacies of policies in promoting employment, and put forward the policies to promote the employment of higher vocational colleges.
