| Nowadays, Curriculum Reform of Elementary Education has been carried out in China for a while. There is no doubt that Harbin is also doing the same reform. This new reform will realize the real “students-orientedâ€class pattern, which focuses on the development of students’ comprehensive quality, rather than “language or grammar orientedâ€. The Junior High School Attached to HIT(also called HIT Middle School for short), as the leader of the curriculum in Harbin, tried their best to give the class back to its real master--students in order to operate the new teaching model. This paper is mainly about an action research lasting for three semesters in HIT Middle School, which is based on the theoretical basis of Tao Xingzhi’s “little teacherâ€theory and the studies on it from both domestic and foreign countries. Interviewing, observing and testing are also applied together with the method of action research, so as to prove that the students are more interested in learning English and the are more autonomous and more confident while learning English than the students those are not from the experimental classes.This paper mainly consists of four parts:Chapter I emphasizes the educational thought which is “student-oriented†and “study-orientedâ€, and make a point that is called “little teacher†teaching model. At the same time, this chapter tells the reader the purpose and the significance as well as the content and methodology of his paper by analyzing the shortcomings of some related researches from home and abroad.Chapter II is some introductions of the theoretical knowledge about Tao Xingzhi’s theories. On the other hand, the focus of junior high school English classroom teaching under the new curriculum philosophy is introduced to explain the significance of and innovation of this paper.Chapter III is mainly introduces the action research in HIT Middle School, which is operated in three stages. During the first stage, the author introduced the current condition of English classroom teaching in HIT Middle School and analyzed the problems and shortcomings at the mean time. After analyzing the main reasons for the phenomena, some action programs are made and carried out. The second and the third stage have mainly the same process as the first stage.Chapter IV expresses the advantages of the new teaching model of “little teacher†through interviewing the students, analyzing the grades that students get in different stages. The author comes to a conclusion that this kind of teaching model is a good way to achieve teaching goals of the class. And there is also some thinking about the problems and shortcomings. The “little teacher†teaching model is still new and immature, which is not widely used yet. As a matter of limited time, it still needs researching and improving in the process of classroom teaching. |
