Based on great quantities of theoretical and experimental studies on the team cooperative learning mode of numbers of scholars and teachers, this paper focuses on the team cooperative learning practice in rural ordinary high schools with a teaching experiment. Under the current background of this paper is to regulate students’ the learning behaviors, strengthen their English learning motivation and improve teachers’ teaching concepts. After that the English teaching can be expected to step out of the dilemma, which would also lay stronger foundation for related researches. The choice of this topic is rooted in the author’s personal teaching practice. The high school where the author has been teaching for over three years has introduced team cooperative learning in its daily teaching. However, the results do not turn out not as we had expected. And the English subject seems to go astray after the practice of the reform. In the meanwhile, the national education ministry together with the education departments in most provinces has taken more and more measures to reform the national curriculum standard as well as the Colleague Entrance Examination. So our English teaching is facing more and more challenges than ever before. Considering all these, the author came up with the following 2 questions:first, what’s the most obvious weakness of the reform carried out in the school; second, what kind of advantages of team cooperative learning should be made full use of in rural high school English teaching practice?Targeting at the two aims, this experiment chose Class 7 and 8 as group A and Class 12 and 13 as group B to check the influence of 2 different modes of team cooperative learning practice on students’ grades, students’ leaning motivation and teachers’ teaching concepts. With the help of theoretical analysis and the support of the data collected from the experiment along the whole progress, the paper finally put forward several pieces of suggestion to reform the current team cooperative learning mode for further study and practice. After analysis of the current situation and related researches the conclusion is drawn that there were some flaws in the management of students’ learning behaviors and the achievement of individuals’ active efforts. To avoid these, the experiment was carried out and suggests that the students’ learning ability should be degraded, learning tasks should be accessible to all students and students’ learning process should be managed in more detail. In this way, we can come to realize our goal of regulating students’ learning behaviors, motivating them, encouraging the teachers and finally stepping out of the dilemma together.Of course, there are some shortcomings of this study. If it is intended for further practice on a larger scale, more specific and detailed researches are required.
