With the development of global economy, English plays a dramatic role in International communication. In the meanwhile, English teaching for high school students lays the foundation on the students proceeding into the world. However, because of the condition of economy in poor area, the traditional PPP methods are still widely employed by some teachers and used by many students, which to some extent have negative inflect on improving students’ English comprehensive ability. On this condition, The New National Criterion for English Course strongly advocates using proper teaching methods and scientific teaching materials to cultivate students’ cooperative and self-regulated ability. And by means of using the two approaches to study, students’ ability of using language will be strengthened. Besides, under the background of promoting compulsory education, English teaching for high school students pay more attention to the ability of listening, speaking, reading, writing and so on, among which reading is really an important aspect.However, for the sake of the idea of traditional PPP methods, having a good command of background knowledge and employing language have been ignored. Therefore, in order to change the phenomenon that students pay more attention to the techniques of finishing reading questions rather than the strategies of using language, the author chooses the students of Number 9 Middle School in Bao Tou and carries out a one-term observation and experiment aimed at task-based language teaching theory with the help of "learning plan",which can be better used in English reading class. The purpose of this study is to explore the practicability and validity of this new teaching pattern.This new English teaching pattern is on the basis of self-regulated and constructivism theory. English teacher will design some practical tasks in advance with the help of the methods of investigation, discussion, communication, cooperation and so on.One semester later, the author carefully analyzes the experiment result by means of interview, questionnaire and test. According to the result, it is clear that after elaborately designing teaching materials and tasks accompanied with the guidance of teachers, students’ motivation, comprehensive ability and English reading ability have been obviously improved.
