Ever since the new century, the reform of Chinese education has already stepped into a very rapid lane. A new kind of curriculum reform about the physics in middle schools has begun since 2001. With ten years’practical exploration, the curriculum reform has achieved a great success, and it has helped to build a curriculum system which is characterized by Chinese characteristics, spirit of modern time and quality-oriented education. At the end of 2001, the compulsory education curriculum standard was issued officially. Then, several materials associated with the curriculum standard of physics appeared. As ordinary teachers, facing the changes and adjustments of the teaching material of physics, we should grasp these changes and the directions of the curriculum reform, and we should also use them in a right way in our teaching practice.The textbooks of physics in Junior Middle Schools published by People’s Education Press are of great importance and widely used nowadays. This paper compares revision materials of curriculum standard with the experimental draft of curriculum standard. The first chapter mainly describes the background information, the significance, the research status, and the research methods of comparisons of materials. The second and third chapters mainly make a comparison between the new curriculum reform and the old one, and analyzes the structures, columns and three-dimensional targets of the new or old teaching materials. The fourth chapter gives the results of the comparison on the basis of the collected data from the questionnaire survey on physics teachers in Junior Middle Schools in Wuhan. Besides, this chapter also analyzes the physical problems of the new physics textbooks.The fifth chapter integrates the comparative results between the perceptual and the rational analyses. Then it summarizes the comparative study of the old and new teaching materials. Finally, it puts forwards some suggestions about how to use the new teaching materials in a reasonable way.In this study, through a comparative study of the two sets of textbooks, in order to learning concept of the new curriculum reform in teaching material changes, grasping the trend of the new curriculum, and providing some reference for other teachers.
