As is known to all, English education in junior high schools plays an important part in the school English education system. It connects English education in primary schools with that in senior schools. It not only promotes the level of their language perception but also brings them proficiency in English use. English education researchers and teachers have been focusing on how to improve the effectiveness, how to improve the methods and how to expand the ways of English teaching.Cooperative learning started in England, prospered in the USA and then was carried out in other countries. Unwilling to lag behind, China started to explore and research into it. Researchers hold different opinions on the significance, approaches, evaluation methods and process monitoring of cooperative learning in junior high schools. These are also what this paper concerns about. What are the value and significance in cooperative learning in English education in junior high schools? What are the problems in the implementation process? This paper aims to find out the strategies and approaches to enhance the efficiency of cooperative learning in junior high schools.In the current situation of English teaching in junior high schools in our country, using "cooperative learning" as the theoretical basis, English teaching in junior high schools as the research contents, classroom observation and deep interviews as the methods, the author chose 3 different classes in different schools as the research objects and then observed their lessons. The author has found that when cooperative learning is used in English teaching in junior high schools, a lot of problems begin to appear:learning teams are established improperly; tasks are distributed unequally; teaching contents are designed unreasonably; time is set improperly; feedback is not given in time and evaluation is incomplete.Based on the problems and influences mentioned above, the author has put forward coping strategies of five aspects:the grouping strategy; the task distribution strategy; the content design strategy; the team cooperation strategy and the evaluation strategy. This paper aims to optimize the cooperative learning pattern in junior high schools and to enhance the English teaching effects in junior high schools.
