With the rapid development of economic globalization, global cultural communication has become overwhelming. The cultural and ideological influence at home and abroad along with the common use of the Internet makes information dissemination channels more diverse and much faster. However, contemporary high school students are in the late puberty and going through the critical period of physical and psychological development. It is easy for them to have critical thinking and rebel against their parents, teachers and society. Of all the adolescent problems, high school students’ interaction with the opposite-sex is the most vulnerable, and it is mostly likely to be ignored, misunderstood and handled improperly by their teachers, parents. Timely education and guidance, if not kept up, will certainly affect their lives, study and future development. Therefore, strengthening the guidance of the opposite-sex interaction is very urgent and necessary.In this paper, analysis of the current situation of high school students’ opposite-sex interaction is made through investigation according to the characteristics of ideological and political education. It’s found that, on the one hand, the interaction has positive impacts and on the other hand, it has anegative influences on the students’ study and physical and mental development; worse still, it may lead to a bitter fruit. At the same time, reasons for the problems appearing in the present situation of the interaction between the opposite sexes are also analyzed based on my teaching examples from the five aspects of the students themselves, their peers, families, schools and society. In the process of opposite-sex interaction, high school students need to set up correct values, follow the principles of unification of moderation, freedom, responsibility, understanding, respect, belief, tolerance and experience; build up sincerity, mutually beneficial peer community among the students, and build a good “home-school interaction” educational environment. Meanwhile, optimize educational resources, improve the schools’ educational level, create better social environment, and give full scope to legal media. The paper also indicates that stimulating the positive function of opposite-sex interaction and weakening negative function, properly dealing with the opposite-sex interaction and their study can effectively contribute to high school students’ physical and mental development, prompting the students to gain more knowledge and grow healthily.
