With the advancement of reform of new curriculum, the ideas of people for education have changed greatly. More and more people gradually begin to know that the geography ability has been a must-have scientific and cultural quality for future citizens, which makes an important and fundamental difference in promoting life-long learning and sustainable development for citizens and cultivating new-model talents of the country. Grade seven is the crucial stage for geography study. However, the writer found that the majority of students in grade seven thought geography as difficult to learn and even gradually began to be afraid of it, this will have a negative impact on the students of the follow-up geography study in the middle school.Therefore, it has important meanings in theory and practice by analyzing the reason of grade seven students’ difficulty in learning geography and coming up with a set of useful solutions.Based on past research and with the pedagogy, psychology and some relevant theories as guide, the paper runs a deep investigation and study for part of geography teachers and students of Quantang Middle School by using document survey, questionnaire investigation, interviewing and class observation as methods. Based on knowing the current situation of grade seven students’ learning geography, the writer takes an analysis of the reasons of grade seven students’difficulties in learning geography comprehensively from the feature of geography and physical and mental development of grade seven students, geography teachers and family environment, based on which the writer raises strategies by discussing with geography teachers on the front line. Firstly, the geography teachers has to pay attention to analyze the differences among students from the aspects of teaching methods, comments and review strategies. Meanwhile, it is also to promote the communication with students. Secondly, not only do the geography teachers pay attention to cultivate the grade seven students for learning geography, but also they should enhance students’ ability to learn geography from the aspect of leaning methods and behaviors. Lastly, the school and family have to take geography seriously in order to push forward the students’comprehensive development.The writer hopes that it can help grade seven students and teachers step out of the shadow of difficulty in leaning geography and rebuild confidence by this research. Under the current education system, it can constantly promote grade seven students’ ability in learning geography and geography quality, cultivate students’emotion for geography, realize social value of geography and meanwhile, provides valuable references for most geography teachers and advance them comprehensive quality.
