Compulsory education is the only way to develop a lifelong learning habit. The development learning habit is the result of the learner’s self-selection. To form a good learning habit, we should cultivate the students’ interests as much as possible in the process of teaching. Only the studying interest being developed effectively will the learner have the desire to studying for life.The theme of this paper is the development of learning habit in English discipline.The research subject is the junior high school students in the poor area. And it is dominated by the Gardner’s foreign language learning motivation theory. The paper studies a current situation in the poor district where lacks a language environment of second language acquisition, has lower average quality among teachers, misunderstands the importance of interest in the society and ignores the teaching infrastructure in the school, in order to find a teaching strategy and method to solve the problem of how to develop the junior high school students’ English learning habit in the poverty-striken region.Generally, this research is divided into three parts. In the first part, it profoundly explores the Gardiner theory of motivation in foreign language learning and analyzes the relationship between learning motivation and interest. In the second part, following the guide of the Attitude /Motivation Test Battery, the paper investigates and analyzes the studying status of junior high school students in the poor area as well as the cause of influencing middle school students’ English learning interests. For the last part, it is the key point of the whole article, which presents the effective strategies of cultivating junior high school students’ English learning interest. This section, which is based on the research and survey results of the first two parts, summarizes three valid methods for the students’ English learning in the impoverished area, that is, teaching preparation strategy, class excitation strategy, achievement evaluation strategy. From the preparation before class to the class evaluation, it effectively motivates the interests of learners in trinity.This paper mainly uses the literature research method, comparative method,educational observation method, the educational experience summery method and so on.It regards my three-year teaching experience and the school which I’m working in as the object of investigation and research to survey and compare deeply. This article will focus on the study of stimulating school students’ interests in the poor areas where few people concerns. It will pertinence discuss how to motivate the middle school students’ English learning interest in the impoverished region better. At the same time, it may make a contribution to deepen and complete the reform of new curriculum, further quest how to play the advantages of the fresh curriculum reform to improve the teaching effect of poor area’s English teachers and the studying result of students’ learning. It will devote much to explore a novel way of developing and stimulating junior high school students’ English learning interests in the poor area.
