English vocabulary is the basis for learners to learn English and master the knowledge of all aspects of English. For primary school students, learning English vocabulary is a stepping stone to improve their English achievement and ability. In recent years, as a new and effective method of learning, the autonomous learning has been widely used in English teaching, especially in the teaching of English vocabulary. Autonomous learning makes students to listen, read and write English vocabulary by themselves to change the teachers by rotting the traditional mode of vocabulary teaching. However, from the study and investigation the author found that in real primary school English teaching, vocabulary learning method did not play its due role. Therefore, the focus of this study is that to find English problems existing in the vocabulary autonomous learning process. Aiming at these problems puts forward some improving strategies, and builds up the teaching mode of practical English vocabulary autonomous learning.Basing on the results of previous studies, the author using literature analysis, survey method and case study method to make further research and exploration on English vocabulary autonomous learning. First, collecting relevant literature and data on English vocabulary autonomous learning to provide a solid theoretical foundation for the next step research. Second, to make a questionnaire and interview on the students and English teachers of Shijiazhuang W elementary school. To make a case for analysis in an English class and find problems on English vocabulary autonomous learning. Third, aiming at the existing problems to propose effective improvement strategies. Finally, according to the problems found in the survey and case, combining with the actual English vocabulary teaching in primary school, to explore practical English vocabulary teaching model of autonomous learning.This thesis includes six sections.The first section is the introduction. It consists of the proposed issues, literature review, research ideas and methods.The second section is the theoretical analysis of the autonomous learning of English vocabulary in primary school. First of all, it defines the concept of senior primary, English vocabulary teaching and autonomous learning. Secondly, it discusses the theoretical basis of this study. Finally, it illustrates the factors that affecting the autonomous learning.The third section is an analysis of autonomous learning application in W primary school.Through the questionnaire of W primary students and English teachers’ interview, it found and analyzed the problems of senior primary students’ problems on English vocabulary autonomous learningThe fourth section is the case of senor primary school English vocabulary autonomous learning. By presenting an English class in the W primary school, the author finds and analyzes the problems of teachers’ teaching and students’ learning styles in English vocabulary autonomous learning.The fifth section is the improvement strategy and model construction of the autonomous learning of English vocabulary in the primary school. According to the problems the author found in the survey, interview and case analysis, the author puts forward the corresponding improvement strategies from the aspects of teachers and students. According to the theoretical analysis and problem analysis and combining with the reality of primary school English vocabulary learning, the author constructs a model of autonomous learning of English vocabulary teaching in primary school.The sixth section is the conclusion. Review the process of this research and summarize the achievements and shortcomings in this research.
