University as an academic organization to inherit and research advanced knowledge, has played an important role in the process of the human society. In China’s future development and the great rejuvenation of the historical process, universities will bear some important missions such as qualified people training, science development, social services, heritages and culture innovation and so on. In recent decades, much more new attention is paid to university governance, for it is the key to understand operation management of a university. With the further reform and development of the Chinese higher education, the establishment of modern university systems and mechanisms becomes the key issue for both higher education researchers and university administrators to care about. For a long time, the academic standards and international academic status in our universities were lower, the management efficiency is lower, the root cause of all this is the university governance structure lag behind other nations. As the most successful country of higher education in the world, America have much successful experience in the university governance and it’s very worth us to learn and reference.The article is divided into six chapters. First chapter is introduction, I put forward the specific destination and significance of the thesis, as well as the related research literature review; Chapter two, summary of university governance structure research, summarizing and discusses the governance related concepts, analyzes the university governance structure theory knowledge; Chapter three, comparative of university governance structure of China and the United States, respectively from the power structure, management thoughts, political parties and social participation, supervision mechanism four aspects to compare, in terms of our country university governance structure, there are serious attachment relationship between public university and government, in educational rights side, government planning mode play a leading role; In the aspect of management rely on administrative measures, administrative orders; The relationship between the university and other stakeholders is indifference; University organizations, the leadership of the supervising agencies for actuators are power imbalances; the power allocation of school and department is unreasonable; Academic committee in liability is not clear. The fourth chapter is the rethink profoundly of university governance structure in China, the drawing on the successful experience of American university building external governance structure, puts forward some advice on the reform of university governance in our country; Fifth chapter consummates our country university governance structure proposal, and in the governance structure of the refactoring to reposition the government role, set up partnerships between government, school, to build a new university interior restricting mechanism of power and responsibility division, participative governance mode, establish college administrative and academic affairs management. Chapter 6 conclusion, summarize the research results.Article through the method of documentary, descriptive research method, it has important reference value.to our country’s higher education to update resource configuration mode, the introduction of stakeholders involved in university governance, promote social participation.
