According to the Sixth National Population Census and the Second China National Sample Survey on Disability, the number of aural disabled people in China reached20.54 million by the end of 2010 for which it is necessary to develop special education to promote educational equality. However, the hearing disorder of deaf students makes their cognitive and psychological characteristics different from those of normal students, for which mature teaching models no longer work well on them. With the rapid development of information technology and the rise of visualized teaching in regular schools, education workers have seen the hope of optimizing the teaching efficiency of the Chinese language in deaf schools. By using intuitive and vivid teaching resources, visualized teaching model can present the hyper-abstract artificial symbol system of the Chinese language. Promoting the understanding of the language teaching contents of deaf students and improving their learning interest, visualized teaching model helps them take full advantage of the cognition and memory of visual information in right hemisphere, thus to optimize teaching efficiency.Analyzing the present situations of visualized teaching in deaf schools at home and abroad by using document analysis method, this study finds that visualized teaching model is now being widely adopted in normal schools and has gained good teaching results. Promoting students’ understanding of teaching contents by using a great deal of intuitive and vivid teaching resources, visualized teaching model also suits deaf students for their special physiological and psychological features and has gained good teaching results. However, visualized teaching resources are now of in the state of being insufficient and low quality.Investigating students and teachers in deaf schools by questionnaire, this study analyzes the demand of the development of visualized teaching resources of the Chinese language in deaf schools on the basis of the features, popular contents and ways of learning of deaf students; analyzes the current problems faced by visualized teaching resources of the Chinese language in deaf schools and discusses possible solutions on the basis of corresponding surveys.Despised the state of being insufficient and low quality, visualized teaching resources developed by some experts are not well-suited in realize teaching; meanwhile, some of the front-line teachers are over-dependent on experiences in developing and adopting visualized teaching resources. To settle all the above problems, under the guidance of instructional design theories, dual coding theory and theories of brain science, this study constructs the flow for developing visualized teaching resources, hoping to provide theoretical guidance for Chinese language teachers in deaf schools to develop suitable visualized teaching resources. According to this flow, this study develops the visualized teaching resources of Guilin Scenery, a text from the experimental Chinese language textbook(vol 15) used in full-time deaf schools, checking corresponding teaching results and making targeted modifications. |
