A Research On The Current Extracurricular Reading Of Tibetan Students In Colleges In Lhasa

Reading enables us to absorb the wisdom in the sea of knowledge. Although it’s impossible for us to travel every inch of the land on the planet with our transient lifetime, reading helps us to know and learn every corner of the world and even the past and the future.Extracurricular reading can increase students’ knowledge, improve their comprehensive ability, and plays a considerable role in their coming of age. But judged from the current research papers, the present situation of college students’ extracurricular reading is not optimistic, and the survey about Tibetan students’ extracurricular reading seems scarce, which motivated to do this research.Subsequently, I conducted this research at four universities in Lhasa city with nearly 400 students, through literature method, questionnaire survey, and interview, hoping to contribute to filling in this blank and laying some clues for future researchers. By doing so, the paper introduces the current status of the university Tibetan students’ extracurricular reading in Lhasa explores the existing problems and reasons, and thereby putting forward suggestions to increase and encourage Tibetan college students’ extracurricular reading.At the same time, this paper also leaves some questions for people to contemplate in the future with the hope that more people of insight could join in this survey and more Tibetan college students or preparatory college students could see more of and benefit from extracurricular reading.
