Study On The Competitiveness Of ‘985’ Combined Colleges And Universities In Our Country

With the development of the market economy, the competition has been deeply into all walks of life. As competition in higher education which educates high-quality talents is becoming more and more significant. In order to promote our country’s higher education level and international competitiveness of colleges and universities, our government introduced a huge higher education management system reform in the 1990’s. Reform of management system uses ‘building, adjustment, cooperation and merger’ as the guideline. The essence of which are adjustment and merger in order to speak about the merger of colleges and universities. On May 4, 1998, President Jiang Zemin’s speech on building the world’s first-class university on the 100 th anniversary of Peking University is the origin of the name ‘985’ key project. A large number of universities in our country began to merger in order to build world’s first-class universities, and to enhances our own country’s competitive power. In this paper, we analyzed the competitiveness of the combined ‘985’ colleges and universities, and if it has been raised.First of all, through the definition of the concepts of the ‘985’ colleges and competitiveness, this paper has a whole understanding of the object of the study, this paper analyzes the present situation and the competitiveness of China’s ‘985’ merger of colleges and universities, then the research background of this paper has been grasped.Secondly, based on the competitive environment of ‘985’ colleges and universities in our country, this paper analyzes the influenced related factors in our country’s competitiveness of ‘985’ merger colleges and universities, then the competitveness evaluation index system of the science of the analytic hierarchy process has been established to calculate the weights of every index.Finally, based on the established index system in empirical research, this paper made the selection of the merger of three universities and unincorporated competitiveness comparison study of three universities. This paper carried on the empirical analysis of the results, and made suggestions on how to promote our country’s ‘985’ to merge its competitiveness.
