In recent years, with the significant development of cognitive psychology, mathematics, philosophy of education, educational research teaching methods, researching the mathematical understanding has becoming an central topic which has a worldwide attention in mathematics education. The concept of function has a high degree of abstraction and generality, and it has a variety of methods to express, In addition to, It requires students to be able to flexibly convert. This makes the student feel difficult often when learning it, thus, it will have a bad influence to students to understand the knowledge of function and the function of understanding. So, we must know about the Level of the student’s understanding to function fully and analysis the factor which affect the students to learn function. It’s a necessary requirement and development Trend to improve the quality of mathematics teaching.This study takes the sophomore high school students, and senior high school students of Kunming tenth high school as research subjects. It based on concept of the function to researching the concept of the function, the application of the function and primary dimensions of the basic elementary functions 1. Through this three first dimension and eight second dimension, researching the level of understanding the concept of function for senior high school students. Using the Survey method and Interview as research tools to study this three questions: what level of understanding the concept of function for senior high school students is? What is the factor of affect the students learning of function? How to promote the teacher teach of function effectively?Through the survey we can make a conclusion: on the whole, the general level of high school students understand the function is not high; But it has a better understanding for basic elementary functions I and has a poor understanding for application of the function; It has no Obviously difference in level of understanding of the function for boys and girls, sometimes the boys is better than girls, Sometimes it is opposite; Senior high school and Third year in high school are different in studying the function and they Each has advantages and disadvantages. But Third year in high school is better than Senior high school on the whole.Based on the results of the survey of above all, combination The following four aspects: the characteristics of mathematics, teaching methods of teachers, thinking features and study habits of high school students, analysis the factor of influence the high school students studying the function. According to the results of the survey, it is not ideal for students study the function, so put forward three teaching strategies. At last, this paper which give three typical teaching case to teacher for reference resources encourage the teacher study the classification and evaluation theory about SOLO.
