Biology curriculum at the stage of compulsory education is mainly to improve students’ scientific literacy of biology, which is one of the important fields of science education. The Ministry of Education spent 10 years to formulated the "Compulsory Education Biology Curriculum Standards (2011 Edition)", which accelerated the development of junior high school biology curriculum in China. With the new curriculum implemented,the People’s Education Press published the "Compulsory Education Textbook of Biology "followed The Ministry of Education approving. America is the most developed country and attaches great attention to basic education. Therefore, it is necessary to learn from the successful experience of America.This paper comparatively analyses the biology curriculum standards of Sino-US junior middle school from five aspects, such as the overall framework, curriculum concept, curriculum target, curriculum content and evaluation. Based on four textbooks of "Compulsory Education Textbook of Biology " published by People’s Education Press and the "Science" (Chinese version) biological fascicle edited by Dr.Padilla(America) and Pearson Education Group authorized Zhejiang Education Press, the paper focuses on the the exercises, column settings, experiment, comprehensive discipline and the same content. Meanwhile several methods are used in this paper, like text analysis, literature analysis, comparative analysis, standard comparison method, case study method, statistical analysis, etc. And it combines the quantitative and qualitative to objectively evaluate these two sets of textbooks.Based on comparatively analyzing the characteristics of two sets of Sino-US junior high school biology textbooks, this paper studies the advantages and disadvantages of ours and draws lesson from the advantages of American’s, combining with the reality of our country, in order to provide a useful reference basis for further revision and prepared for our new curriculum standard implementation of junior high school biology textbooks.
