The traditional physics experiment teaching in engineering college often ignore the construction process of experimental science thoughts, pay little attention to the training of scientific method and scientific spirit for students, fail to fulfill the important role of physics experiment in fostering excellence engineering and technical personnel. The effective combination of history of physics and physical education is attracting more and more attention of the education circles and to effectively use educational functions of history of physics on physics experiment in engineering college is an important way to reform the traditional concept of university physics experiment teaching.Through investigation and analysis with ways of literature analysis, questionnaire, etc., on the current status of physics experiment teaching in engineering college, the results show there are still some gaps between the current status of teaching and the requirements of " basic teaching requirements of college physics experiment for non-physical science subject" which appointed by Ministry of Education, especially students’ ideas and methods of experimental science", "scientific thinking and innovation", "scientific attitude and scientific spirit". Because the history of physics has important educational value on optimizing the current status of experimental teaching, so the author has made a deep digging of the educational function of the history of physics on training students’ skills of experimental ability and quality, ideas and methods of experimental science, scientific thinking and innovation and scientific attitude and scientific spirit, etc. combined with the investigation of experimental status, this thesis well analyzed and described the necessity and feasibility of combination of history of physics with physical experiments in engineering universities. On the basis of the relevant research results of education and psychology, this thesis proposes a teaching method of optimizing physics experiment in engineering college by full using resources of history of physic based on research of target of teaching mode, the relationship between teacher and student, procedures of teaching mode, teaching strategies of teaching mode. In the end, this thesis also stressed the relevance and flexibility of this teaching mode and pointed out its situation and precautions.
