| In modern society, cultivating active citizens is the important task of every country. Furthermore, this honorable task will be taken over by pre-service teachers, who will play a significant role in the mission. There’s no denying the fact that pre-service teachers’ perspective on civics and citizenship will have a huge effect on next generation, who will grown as future citizen. Thus, revealing their perspective on civics and citizenship is an indispensable part of the research.A vast number of per-service teachers from ten majors and four grades in Nantong University have take part in my research. Questionnaires and interviews are adopted to reveal the pre-service teachers’ perspective on civics and citizenship. For the sake of probing into the facts and finding out the difference and regularity, this thesis adopted the statistical methods with the software SPSS16.0.Owing to the results, this thesis draws six conclusions: first, most pre-service teachers lack the consciousness as a world citizen. Second, the development of the pre-service teachers’ perspective is imbalance, referring to the fact that the civic right is not keeping the same pace with the civic responsibility. Third, there is positive correlation between the different dimensions of the pre-service teachers’ perspective on civics and citizenship. Four, different gender and grade and major lead to different perspective on civics and citizenship. Five, pre-service teachers’ perspective on civic literacy has some limitations. For the purposed of solving the existing problem, I suggested that Institution of Teacher Education should carry out complete civic education. What’s more, family, community and network platform should and incoordinately develop and offer pre-service teachers some opportunities to civic engagement. |
