Argumentation is a result of human rational achievement and the crystallization of wisdom. Argumentative writing is the main content of the middle school language teaching writing. What’s more, it’s an important carrier of people in information age showing attitude, expressing opinions and passing ideas. With its increasingly obvious role in all areas of social life, people put forward higher requirements to argumentative writing skills and argumentative writing attainments. However, argumentative writing has many problems in the current situation, such as lies, empty words and cliches. Besides, the modeling, stereotyped oriented atmosphere is also very popular. Reversing this phenomenon has become a top priority.After research, we find that the reason lies in people’s cognitive biases for argumentation and argumentative writing. Therefore, we should make a relatively comprehension and systematic interpretation of the views on argumentation and argumentative writing which guide the argumentative writing practice. It is very helpful to rectify people’s cognitive biases. And it’s quite necessary for people to give a guidance for argumentative writing and the teaching practice of argumentative writing.Based on a large collection of literatures, this thesis choose those contemporary language educators and scholars’views on argumentation and argumentative writing, such as Liang Qichao, Ye Shengtao, Xia Mianzun, Sun Shaozhen, Ma Zhengping, Pan Xinhe and so on. The author describes and comments seven aspects of the views on argumentation and argumentative writing in detail. That is, dynamics, teleology, property, category, reasoning, thinking, audience. At the same time, by analyzing and comparing their similarities and differences, based on summarizing the previous views, the author put forward a few own opinions and views, in order to deepen people’s understandings about argumentation and argumentative writing, to provide some inspiration and practical value of reference for argumentative writing and argumentative writing teaching.
