It is commonly seen that college students are obsessed with their cellphones, exerting apparent impact on their academic performances. Based on questionnaires and interviews about the issue completed by students of Fujian Normal University(FJNU), the present writer collected the information in order to get a clear picture of college students’ obsession with cellphone, the influences it generates and the causes. In this paper, the author introduces the definition, the influences and the causes of cellphone obsession and discusses how to intervene in the situation and the strategy of how social work mitigates negative impact the obsession produces. The analysis of the statistics reveals that some 40% of college students in FJNU are addicted to their cellphones and it will negatively influence their learning motivation, learning ability, learning exchange and learning efficiency. Nevertheless, the survey also finds out that the proper use of cellphone for study brings about many advantages. So do the students themselves and the environment where they stay. These advantages can be powerful means to get rid of cellphone addiction. Based on the survey, this paper focuses on the analysis of the reasons why such influences come into being from two angles, which are both the subject factors of college students themselves and the object factors of the social context. At last, based on cognitive behavior theory and ecological system theory and coupled with the experience of student management, this paper comprehensively discusses how to overcome the negative impact of cellphone indulgence and the related social work strategies from the strength perspective, mainly focusing on six respects pertaining to college students and the learning environment, which are the understanding of "mobile learning", the cultivation of college students’ capability of self-learning and self-discipline, the formation and improvement of learning behaviors, the development of sound learning resources in cellphone, the universal education of outstanding culture and the optimization of the education and management system in university.
