| With the deep development of the new National Matriculation English Test(NMET) reform, some weaknesses have occurred in English class of senior high schools. For instance, there is little interaction in class and students are lack of initiative. They just listen passively in class and seldom have opportunities to speak. As a result, the English class is ineffective but time-consuming. To some extent, this “dumb English†limits the active interaction dramatically, resulting in students’ unqualified practical English applying ability for the new NMET reform. Therefore, this paper will mainly study the interpretations of the new NMET reform, teachers and students’ responses towards the new NMET reform and the English interactive teaching in senior high schools, trying to find out the major problems of current interactive teaching and their corresponding improvement measures. So it is of great significance to prove whether interactive English teaching can meet the new NMET reform or not.In order to better study the interactive teaching in senior high schools, the author analyzes the relevant researches abroad and at home. Besides, questionnaires, classroom observation, interviews and test are adopted. For instance, questionnaires are to learn about the current situation of interactive English teaching as well as teachers and students’ attitudes on interactive teaching. Classroom observation is mainly for finding out the major problems of interactive English teaching. And interviews are to learn about teachers and students’ responses towards the NMET reform and the improvement measures of interactive English teaching for the NMET reform. Test will provide the proof of whether interactive English teaching can meet the new NMET reform or not.Based on the analysis of the collected data, it can be found that teachers and students’ responses towards the new NMET are quite similar and the proportion of supporters and opponents for the reform is practically even. In addition, the major problems of interactive English teaching are mainly four aspects such as teachers, students, English learning environment and evaluation methods. And the corresponding improvement measures for the NMET reform are put forward from these four aspects. Most significantly, it is proved that the interactive English teaching can meet the new NMET reform. |
