Research On Education Of Chinese Women In America Before The Anti-Japanese War

On modern Chinese overseas history, Chinese women in America are an important part in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China. As the knowledge women who grew up in America, they are influenced by the freedom and democracy, so that they get rid of the feudal cage toward independence and advocate women’s education. Through learning and life in America and cultural experience’s deep internalization, they make a contribution in the field of educational teaching and management, showing extraordinary courage and female entrepreneurship. Unfortunately, most of these women are been ignored, it is almost a blank in the history,so their life story have a great space on research.Therefore,this paper makes a preliminary study of Chinese women study in the United States, in order to further enrich the research on the history of Chinese modern women’s study abroad.The paper illustrates from the first Chinese women in America till the period before the Anti-Japanese War broke out. On this basis, it regards women in America as educational object and takes their educational activities as the main line, which interprets legendary history of these Chinese women in America from three stages which includes going abroad, living in exotic and coming back with fruitful results. And then the paper selects three typical representative and make an in-depth analysis, showing completely their influence and refractive power in that time.Based on the above analysis, the first part of the paper for the background of Chinese women headed for the United States. Through researching on the development of women’s higher education in America, the development of Chinese women’s education before the Anti-Japanese war and the educational regulation of Chinese women in America, it interprets the reason why the Chinese women choose to go to study in America.The second part concretely analyze women in America starting with the difficult of going abroad, from the traditional Chinese women’s misery and struggle to the support of new things and new ideas for women to study, and finally sailing to America. Meanwhile, in doing may occupy historical detail on the basis of specific analysis of women in America, and selects such case studies.The third part discusses and analyzes these women’s study and life in America and interprets the women unique aspect different from the men. Then it selects a case study during the living conditions in America and makes an in-depth analysis.The fourth part discusses the achievements of women in America in the field of education teaching and management after returning, which shows unusual courage of women in America and female entrepreneurship, and further select cases to deepen female consciousness in this period.The fifth part is a summary of the full text.
