The Naxi ethnic minority mainly lives in Lijiang, Yunnan province, especially in the old town of Lijiang and Yulong Naxi Autonomous County nowadays. In the long time, Naxi People keep absorbing outside culture especially the Han culture in mainland positively with an open-minded and inclusive attitude. Therefore, school education generated and developed in different degree in the process. With the rapid wind of "vacate Keju and start new culture" at the end of Qing dynasty, the new school education started and developed in Lijiang. However, in the period of the Republic of China, because of the unsteady situation in the whole country including Yunnan, the implementation of education policies presented the same characteristics as changeable and complex. Therefore, to see in the vertical perspective, the school education of Lijing Naxi nationality still shows the trend of "advancing in tortuous, and developing in the exploration". Actually, in the period of the republic of China, the school education of Naxi nationality developed under the specific historical background and different kind of school education showed different developing situation. Of course, there are all sorts of reasons for the development of school education as well as various influence. The development of school education, on the one hand, further promoted the spread of the Han culture, trained large quantities of naxi nationality talents, improved the whole quality of the naxi nationality and laid a good foundation for education development, cultural prosperity after the founding of new China; On the other hand, the school became the battle field for democratic and revolution thought at that time, enhancing the national consciousness of the naxi people which lays the ideological foundation and mass base for the establishment of the People’s Republic of China. Based on the related files, local records and other historical materials and present works, this paper expounds the related issues of the Lijiang naxi school education during the period of the republic of China from four aspects:the background, phase, reason and influence.Chapter one discusses the background of school education development of the Naxi nationality in the period of Republic of China. It mainly discusses from the aspects of the establishment of the new education institutions, the establishment of the new school, the push and drive of new talents and new thought.Chapter two reappears the reality of school education development of the Naxi nationality in the period of Republic of China. The school education is illustrated from the fields of preschool education, primary education and secondary education. The reality of each kind of educational development mainly expands from the aspects of school scale and school facilities, faculty resource and students feedback, education program and curriculum, teaching material and teaching content (imparting knowledge and skills), teaching methods and so on.Chapter three tells the reason of school education development of the Naxi nationality in the period of Republic of China. The reason is explained from the enactment and implement of educational laws during1912to1949, the establishment and improvement of educational institution, the push of the intelligent people and support from local people.Chapter four shows a general evaluation of school education development of the Naxi nationality in the period of Republic of China. The general evaluation is illustrated from its positive impacts and limitations.
