This paper is mainly on a series of problems appeared in the writing teaching in rural junior high school. The writing teaching in rural junior high school has been into an embarrassing situation, with the teacher’s difficulties in teaching and the students’ difficulties in writing. When a teacher teaches writing, what exactly should he teach and how to teach it? And when a student writes a composition, what should he write and how to write it? How to achieve the organic unity of teachers’ teaching and students’ learning? How can students be made to convert what they have learned into their own knowledge so as to achieve the purpose of learning for practice? All these problems have plagued the language teachers in rural junior high school for a long time, so it is necessary to further explore and research them.As a Chinese education worker in rural junior high school, the author compiled the questionnaire for the teachers and students in three rural junior high schools in Kangxian, and investigated them. In this study, the teachers’ reading situation, the preparations of writing teaching plans, the implementation status of each part of the writing teaching, students’ interest in writing, and their writing accumulation,difficulties and environment are all analyzed and summarized. And the causes of these conditions are analyzed, too. Based on the detailed analysis of the survey results and data, under the guidance of the new curriculum standard, and on the basis of knowledge and theory in pedagogy and psychology, combining with the particularity of rural junior high school, this paper puts forward the specific strategies to improve the quality of writing teaching in rural junior high schools:(1) teachers should update their concepts of teaching writing, enhance the consciousness of learning and constantly improve their own quality.(2)They should also modify the steps of writing teaching, with writing teaching plans beforehand, reasonable proposition, and scientific guidance.( 3) Marking should reflect the body of students and commenting should be targeted.( 4) Attention should be paid to the modifying process in order to realize the classroom efficiency.(5)The teacher should guide students to base on the rural life, and lead the students to engage in a variety of social practice, attaching importance to emotional experience and accumulation of writing material.(6)The teacher should stimulate students’ interest in writing by gettingthem into the habit of extracting or writing reading notes, and guide students to regulate their own language by making full use of classroom time to exercise their ability of language expression.
