| As one of the highlights of China’s basic education reform in the new round, the integrated practice activity curriculum (IPAC) arouses widespread concern of researchers, and the in-depth study about its theory is constantly advancing. Some achievements on IPAC have been made in urban schools, but what about the implementation of IPAC in rural primary schools? How can rural primary schools achieve great progress on the implementation of curriculum? It’s very necessary for rural primary schools to implement the IPAC because it has great importance which can put the training objectives of basic education into effect, improve the curriculum structure of rural primary schools, narrow the differences between urban and rural education and enhance the students’ sense of identity and responsibility to their hometown. But the curriculum implementation in rural primary schools is not optimistic. The interview survey and observation shows that the implementation of the IPAC in Xiying Town is good. There are rich natural resources and beautiful ecological environment in Xiying Town. And its primary schools are "miniature primary schools". Based on these natural and educational background, Xiying Town took a series of measures, such as "town-based educational research", "micro-class" mode and "growth files" and so on. These measures have achieved good results, which formed the characteristic curriculum, improved the ability of teachers and students and enhanced the overall teaching level of this region. But there are still many problems, such as the concept of education is backward; curriculum organization and management are loose; the number of teachers is small and their level of specialization is very low; curriculum resources are inadequate; curriculum implementation is formalized and its process is repeated and also the way of evaluation is one-sided. These problems hinder the implementation of the IPAC in rural primary schools. At last, based on the situation of Xiying Town, this study tries to find effective suggestions for the implementation of the IPCA in rural primary schools. They can set up a comprehensive safeguards, promote the teachers’professional development, choose suitable curriculum resources and teaching methods for rural schools, establish a good evaluation system for primary students and seek more social support. Only by doing this can IPAC in rural primary schools be effectively implemented. |
