Mathematical Methodology includes two research objects: demonstration and conjecture. Demonstration is a rigorous and reasoning process by taking logical rules. And its goal is to get indubitable reliability. However, conjecture is vague and uncertain, which is the essential prerequisite of great discovery sometimes. What prompt students to conjecture in mathematics are always experiment, analogy and induction? This study focuses on the application of analogy in teaching. Analogy is an important mathematical method of the mathematical teaching in middle school, which is widely used and at the same time it plays an important role in teaching. Teachers usually use analogy in teaching, but there are some problems that worth our research. Firstly, how do mathematics teachers acknowledge and use analogy? Secondly, the advantages and disadvantages of analogy in teaching. Thirdly, the application of analogy in teaching.This study uses documentary method, comparative method, investigation method and so on. The research focuses on the analysis of the problems caused by the application of analogy in teaching, and tries to provide some suggestions about how to use analogy in teaching mathematics in middle school.
