The thesis aims to discuss how to apply the ecological teaching method in English writing teaching of a junior middle school and testify whether it can be helpful to arouse the students’ writing interest and change students’ attitude towards writing as well as to improve their writing level.English writing ability can reflect the students’ English comprehensive ability and writing is always the key and difficult point in English teaching of a junior middle school.However, the present situation of English writing teaching is not optimistic. Many teachers do not take the writing teaching seriously enough and lack relevant theoretical researches; Most students lack confidence and interest in writing. Therefore, English writing efficiency is low.So in order to make English writing teaching more effective, the author discusses the application of the ecological teaching method in English writing. The ecological teaching method is to analyze and solve teaching problems from the ecological perspective. It is on the basis of students and considers teachers, students, teaching environment as an interdependent and mutual restricted ecological system as well as blends the integrity, openness and interaction into teaching.The research questions are:(1) Can the ecological teaching method be helpful to increase students’ English writing interest and confidence as well as change their attitude towards English writing?(2) Can the ecological teaching method be helpful to improve students’ English writing grades?The author adopted the test, questionnaire survey and interview as the instruments. The author chose two parallel classes from Grade Two in a middle school. One was the experimental class and the other was the controlled class. Before the experiment, the author did a test and a questionnaire survey in the two classes. The EC adopted the ecological teaching method while the CC still adopted the traditional teaching method, and the students of the two classes were taught by the author. After the experiment, the research data were analyzed by the SPSS(19.0).The results of the experiment show that the students in EC have made greater progress in writing grades and their writing interest has also been improved. So the ecological teaching method in English writing of a junior middle school is feasible and effective.
