At the beginning of learning language, a learner’s knowledge is always less, and the mother tongue is dominant. Therefore, in the process of learning, learners are always subconsciously comparing native language with target language. Thus, the learner is inclined to use mother tongue as the intermediary language to learn the target language. According to the markedness theory, native language and target language is prone to positively transfer when they are similar to each other while the learning contents of mother tongue and target language are different, the transfer patterns of mother tongue will occur dependently.Language transfer, to some extent, affects the learners’ second language acquisition; therefore, it is necessary to understand the transferring treats of markers between mother tongue and target language so as to better predict the learner’s difficult areas, which can help learners study more effectively, reduce the number of errors and improve the learning progress.Proposed in this paper on the concept of the markedness theory raised by scholars both at home and abroad, the author summed up the classification markers by comprehensive analysis,and drew the criteria to judge the language use with the markers and non-markers, and this results can both help teachers improve teaching effect, and motivate students to build learning strategies in the primary school English learning.
