| Since the 1950 s, democracy has become a popular trend in the whole world. As schools are important for personal training, teaching democracy plays a vital role in training citizens with democry. Therefore, the investigation of teaching democracy is of great consequence to improve teachers’ democratic accomplishment and carry out teaching democracy. Most of previous papers research into the implementation of teaching democracy, this study investigates the view of teachers’ teaching democracy. This study conducted a survey to five junior high schools in Haikou city. Through the study we understand the current situation of junior high school teachers’ teaching democracy, and how they satisfied with the current situation. The conclusions of this study are as follows:1.Junior high school teachers identify democracy as "democracy is the program or method that people express their willing to exercise their sovereignty in the field of public policy, such as’ voting ’,’ supervision ’,’ consultation ’,’ compromise ’,’ don’t obey ’etc.".2.Junior high school teachers identify teaching democracy as "the core of teaching democratic is to respect students’ personality, differences, human rights, and students’ creativity".3.Junior high school teachers think that teaching in classroom is the most important to advance teaching democracy, and the assignments and correction of homework is the least important.4.Junior high school teachers’ satisfied teaching in classroom the most, and the satisfaction on homework correction is the lowest.5.There are significant age differences on teachers’ opinion about the five factors, and teachers’ satisfaction on the five factors. The importance of preparation process decreased gradually with the increase of age, teachers at the age of 41-50 thinks it is the least important, but at the age of 51-60, teachers regard it as the most important. The trend of its line graph decreased gradually with the increase of age, reached the lowest at the age of 41-50, and then rose to the highest at the age of 51-60. |
