Basic Education And Democracy: Promoting Grassroots Political Democracy Path Selection

Since the reform and opening-up, China has achieved remarkable successes in the economic field, including the big progress made in the reform of economic structure. However, compared with economic reform, political reform is lagging behind. It is an urgent problem to find the breakthrough point of political reform so that to take the road to democratic political development with Chinese characteristicsEducation democracy is worth of approaching. As a special form of democracy, it is the representative of the essence of democracy in education, which is the fundamental precondition of democracy and the base safeguard for political democracy. Education democracy at the grassroots level plays a direct exemplary and leading role in villagers'autonomy.The dissertation is composed of the following three chapters besides the introduction.Chapter one is a brief overview on education democracy, defining democracy, education democracy and education democracy at the grassroots level, especially the definition of education democracy. Based on these definitions, it anatomizes the significance of carrying out education democracy at the grassroots level from the perspectives of history and reality.Chapter two explores and analyzes the existing problems and the cause of education democracy at the grassroots level. This part portrays and characterizes corrupt phenomena in education, which is caused by the politicization of education. Corrupt education reflects political corruption in the field of education. It is the extension of bad impact of politics controlling education since the ancient times. This chapter analyzes the causes of corrupt education from politics, economy, culture, systems and other aspects .Chapter three is about the basic principle and path choice of implementing education democracy. After deep analysis of the causes of corrupt education, this part puts forward the solution, implementing education democracy. On one hand, it puts forward solutions from both the overall condition and the grassroots'condition. On the other hand, it anatomizes the roles of students groups, teachers and teachers groups in education democracy at the grassroots level.
