Objective: Studies had shown that the length ratio of forefinger(2D) to ring finger(4D) of humanity was relevant to the sports ability, especially to the sports endurance, and also to the way of thinking. To a great extent, the ratio 2D: 4D was determined by the level of hormone during the embryonic period. The forefinger stands for the androgen level while ring finger for the estrogen level. Since the ratio of fingers’ length formed from embryonic period and kept throughout the lives, it provides an easy but effective way to select an eligible track and field athlete. According to the 2D: 4D information, we can pick out the prominent athlete who posses more comprehensive sport quality or greater sport potential. Besides, the 2D: 4D information can also guide us to teach people in accordance of their aptitude, and to improve the quality of education. Many researches had showed that the object with low radio of 2D and 4D had better athletic ability. Estrogen and androgen affected the radio(2D:4D), but there were three conditions would led to the same radio: 2D and 4D with long length, 2D and 4D with short length, 2D and 4D with average length. 2D and 4D with long length implied high estrogen level, this study would reveal that: under the same radio(2D:4D), the athletic ability of object with long length(2D and 4D) was better than those with short length( 2D and 4D) or not. So far, research article in this area has not been reported. Methods: In this paper, a total of 456 pupils of grades 4, 5 and 6, were selected as the statistical respondents. The fingers’ length, physical education achievement and academic performance were investigated and recorded. Statistical analysis was made to compare the physical education achievement and academic performance between those students with the same finger length and different finger length. Results: 1. Sports achievement analysis. For boys, the same R2/R4, different R4/R3, there be exist significant differences: of his right hand, the longer the ring finger is than middle finger, the better sports achievement the student have. For girls, the same L2/L4, different L2/L3, there were also significant differences: of her left hand, the shorter the forefinger is than middle finger, the better sports achievement the girls have. When compare the boys’ forefinger with middle finger, and girls’ ring finger with middle finger, no significant difference was found in their sports achievement. Nevertheless, by comparing the mean value, it can be found that when boys’ right forefinger is relatively longer than middle finger, they can performance better in sports; while in girls, the shorter the left ring finger is than the middle finger, the better their sports achievement would be. 2. Academic achievement analysis. Generally, between the same L2/L4, different L2/L3 and different L4/L3, there were significantly differences in English marks: when the left forefinger or ring finger is longer than the middle finger, the English is better. According to this, we can conclude that the English marks of pupils are highly related to the relative length of forefinger or ring finger to the middle finger. For boys, only in left hands, those who with the same L2/L4, different L2/L3, significant differences could be found in Chinese, English and total marks. The shorter the left forefinger than the middle finger, the higher the Chinese, English and total marks were. For girls, between those with the same L2/L4 and different L4/L3, there was significant difference. The higher the scientific marks were, the larger L4/L3 was, which meant that the ring finger was relatively longer than the middle finger. Conclusions: 1. Provided with the same condition of the finger ratio, those boys with longer right ring finger than the middle finger, and girls with shorter left forefinger than middle finger have higher physical achievement and stronger sport ability, especially in endurance. Thus, the relative finger ratio can be used as an important reference indication of selecting an excellent athlete in track and field.2. In all, under the condition of the same finger ratio, when the left forefinger and ring finger are shorter than the middle finger, the pupils’ English is better. Meanwhile, for boys, there were negative relationships between the ratio of left forefinger to middle finger and the marks of Chinese, English and total courses; and for girls, positive relationships can be found between the left ring finger to middle finger ratio and the scientific marks.
