During the Physics teaching activities, exercise class is an indispensable class type, which plays a pivotal role in assimilating the knowledge of Physics, cultivation of thinking, exercise of a strong will, and the stimulation of interests of study. Therefore, it has been given a considerable emphasis by teachers of Physics.The innovation of new curriculum emphasizes the subjectivity and initiative of students, focusing on students’ participation and the knowledge construction during the study process, which is followed by the reordering and adjustment of high school Physics teaching, namely the compulsory module and elective module. The compulsory module is applied among the students of first and second year in high school, and its contents, as well as the thinking patterns and approaches, are concerning the fundamental knowledge and basic skills which require all students to have an overall understanding. The selective module is conducted in the third year of high school, whose content is mainly concerning the depth and width of the knowledge, which aims to cultivate students’ personalities and help them to exert their specialties. Compulsory module is a foundation of selective module. Therefore, writer initiates an investigation and a research concerning the current performance of high school students(first grade and second grade of two common high schools located in Sui Hua) in physics exercise class. In the questionnaire, the items of designing are listed below:1. The items of students’ questionnaire: students’ attitudes towards high school physics exercise class; students’ opinions of teachers’ teaching method in exercise class; solutions which students use to solve problems, how problems come into being and opinions to the order of difficulty; students’ self-examination and summary after the exercise class.2. The items of teachers’ questionnaire: high school physics teachers’ attitude and recognition to exercise class; high school physics teachers’ teaching design to exercise class; teaching method and approach of high school physics teachers during the practice of exercise class; high school physics teachers’ evaluation on source of difficulties which occur during the process of students’ solving problems.After the distribution and collection of questionnaires, writer compares and analyzes the concerning data, and discovers certain problems and deficiencies do exist between teachers and students in exercise class. To tackle these problems, writer with the knowledge in education, offer several proposals as reference for frontline teachers.
