The current study for general education of Chinese University of Hong Kong focused on the goals of general education, the stage of development and the characteristics of each stage, a unique college system and the curriculum of general education. But for the general education of Chinese University of Hong Kong they have no in-depth analysis of a comprehensive of historical aspects of evolution, philosophy of education, basic practices. Only by comprehensive and in-depth analysis can be able to understand and grasp the overall context of the general education development of Chinese University of Hong Kong.This paper started at the history of general education of Chinese University of Hong Kong, and made a comprehensive analysis of their general education. The distinguishing of the history of the Chinese University of Hong Kong on its major curriculum reform reports for each period and the basis of major education initiatives of the government of Hong Kong. And divided into the beginning of the establishment, the period of managing of integration, the period of systematic, the period of tortuous reform and the period stabilization.For the general education of Chinese University of Hong Kong, the paper has made a microscopic detail. Not only from the macro aspects of educational philosophy, but also to the specific aspects of the practice. By summarizing and analyzing the educational philosophy of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, divided it into a holistic education philosophy, lifelong learning philosophy and the multi-disciplinary philosophy. For its specific approach, we concentrate on the settings of main courses from the University General Education and college general education. With the abstract and concrete analysis, summarizes four characteristics of general education, the general education of ancient and modern, the general education of Chinese and Western, learn and practice, the integration of multi-cultural. After a comprehensive study of Chinese university of Hong Kong, find some aspects which mainland university of China can learn from. They can learn form that the Chinese University of Hong Kong pay great attention to the traditional culture, the comprehensive development of students, the specific safeguards of quality of the courses. The general education of Chinese University of Hong Kong is an integrated whole, every aspect not only relatively independent, but also complementary. They all play important roles in the system of a virtuous circle.
