| It is the adaption to major study that determines the devotion and effect that a student puts into on his/her professional study during academic time and that is crucial to the growth and the development of his/her academic capability. Academic capability directly affects a student’s career choice and development since graduation. Compared with non-interdisciplinary MSW students, those the interdisciplinary, with weaker professional foundation, lack the comprehensive understanding and cognition to the major and face more obstacles and challenges during adapting their major study. Emotional attachment and efficiency to the major are absent from many interdisciplinary MSW students, as a result they seldom choose social work related jobs after graduation. Loss of professional talents poses severe losses to high education in social work and impedes the construction of social work talent team. Therefore emphasizing interdisciplinary MSW students’ major adaption, enforcing their problem amendment, guiding more rational major cognition, cultivating academic interest and improvement efficiency of interdisciplinary MSW’s professional education are essential to the construction of social work talent team.Based on depth interview with seven interdisciplinary MSW students from H college, this paper illustrates their approaches to adapting and problem-solving into the major study. In order to illustrate the interdisciplinary MSW students’ major adaption,"adaption period of enrollment","observation internship period","graduation internship period" and consequence of major adaption are researched as subjects, integrated with characters of social work and memorable events of interviewees’. Meanwhile their ways to facing problems are essential to their major adaption, individual’s inner reaction is also discussed."Inner reaction pattern to major adaption" is constructed by analyzing those specific situations to elucidate individual’s inner reaction, which is valuable to students and staff. Finally this paper summarizes the key factors that affect major adaption and raises solutions:enhancement proposal for rational choices of major register, optimization the guiding and training mechanism from supervisors, and comprehensive consideration the proportion of interdisciplinary students within national unified admission. |
