A teacher is the person who spreads and develops the human culture, and also apowerful driver of the construction of material and spiritual civilization. A teacher plays anextremely significant role in social life and serving the society. The physical status of theteacher, especially the health quality, is directly related to the implementation of nationalrejuvenation through science and education, and affects the rapid development of theconstruction of national economy and technological innovation. Teachers’ health conditionis an essential factor to the destiny of the country as well as the future of the nation.Therefore, the formation of the teachers’ sport awareness and behavior is the key forteachers to possess a healthy body and being in a good shape.This paper starts from the basic theory of the sport awareness and behavior, using themethod of literature, questionnaire, interview, data statistics and comparative analysis.Taking the teachers in Zhenjiang primary and secondary schools as the subjects, this paperanalyzes the present situation of sports awareness and behavior of primary and secondaryteachers.The results of the research are as follows: Firstly, the primary and secondary schoolteachers in Zhenjiang city have described themselves in a sub-healthy state, and there existsignificant differences in health self-rating from teachers at different ages in differentschools.Secondly, the primary and secondary school teachers in Zhenjiang city lack sparetime. There exist obvious differences in sport consciousnesses from groups of teachers ofvaried exercising rates and time, and sport consciousnesses of the teachers who exercisemore and over sixty minutes are greatly stronger than that of the teachers who do less.Thirdly, their motives to participate in sports tend to be diversified. However, their major value orientation is comparatively single, based on pursuit of physiologic health.Fourthly, they regularly choose individual exercise as their basic form, selectcomparatively lighter sorts of sports, and are more willing to do exercise on free location,such as parks, school facilities and home.Fifthly, primary and secondary school teacher’sports awareness and behavior haveprominent influence on stuents’sports in many ways, mainly in the aspect of sportsawarencess.
