Through questionnaires, field observation and document study, this research analyzesautonomous learning of students in rural weak middle schools and the possibilities ofturning passive learning to it as well.Afterwards, it presents the current situations that the students aren’t willing topreview the text before class, not able to understand it in class or consolidate it after class.The situations are throughout the whole process of the reading teaching with two specificreasons inside and outside Chinese Education.Inside it, teachers haven’t played a good role in guidance while students haven’tshown their potential abilities to a better understanding of the text which seems not to be soattractive as it should be.Finally, this study descvibes how to be urged to change their own professionaldevelopment, sa well as to design practical teaching programs in order to play an activerole; Students have to be brought into autonomous learning by initiating their active mentalactivities; The charm of the text has to be deeply exploved to lead students to learn activelyin reading teaching.
