This thesis deeply analyzed suspense art in Chinese language teaching by means ofliterature study, survey investigation, action research and experience summary method. Itsuggested that the appropriate application of suspense has a great influence on Chineseclassroom instruction and has its significant meanings. The research started fromexplaining the concept of “suspense” from both intentional and extensional domains, afterwhich it stated the tight relationship between suspense and life, the unique charm ofnarrative work, thereby it raised the view of applying suspense into junior high schoolChinese language teaching, based on which it analyzed the necessity and efficient sense ofsuspense application in junior high school Chinese language teaching, as well as displayedthe characteristics of suspense types. The thesis revolved around two teaching aspects, notonly the suspense art in junior high school Chinese reading teaching but also in writingteaching. Respectively from the analysis on students`psychological characteristics, interms of reading teaching, on the basis of suspense setup process theory, it furtherdiscussed the approaches of setting suspense in opening, developing, changing andconcluding--the four steps of Chinese reading teaching. As to writing teaching, itexpounded the specific use of setting up suspense both in teaching process and instudent-written compositions.
