The development of teachers has great relation to prosperity of the whole education. Inaddition, Chinese, as a basic subject, has the pivotal function in the development of educationin China, while middle school education is in the transition period linking compulsoryeducation and higher education. Thus, professional development of Chinese teachers in juniormiddle school has a major influence on education. However, in the new curriculum reform,there obviously are some problems with teachers’ professional development. Although it hasaroused public concern, and there are many related studies, few of them focus on juniormiddle school stage and on the subject of Chinese. Taking Zhengding County of HebeiProvince as an example, this paper investigates professional development of Chinese teachersin junior middle schools at the present stage and analyzes the existing problems on the basisof the actual situation of economy, culture and education in the county. It pays attention to notonly intervention from the external conditions, but also strategies related to the teachersthemselves. In this way, beneficial references can be provided to further enrich and perfect thetheory of teachers’ professional quality development and the system of teacher education. Thecorresponding measures will be formulated, and some feasible suggestions will be alsooffered for professional quality development of Chinese teachers in junior middle schools ofZhengding County to continually improve the level of education in Zhengding County.This study adopts literature analysis method, questionnaire method and case studymethod. The thesis consists of four parts. The first part is prolegomenon, which sets forth thebackground and questions, theoretical basis, study methods of the research. The second partintroduces the design and implementation of the questionnaire, then carries on the analysis onthe current situation of the professional development of Zhengding County junior middleschool Chinese teachers from three aspects of living conditions, professional quality andprofessional development. In the third part of the paper, there is analysis on factorsinfluencing the professional development of Chinese teachers in junior middle schools ofZhengding County from both internal and external sides. In the fourth part, strategies are putforward on the basis of analysis carried out in the second and the third parts. The strategiesinclude both good external environment and realization of the teachers’ self-development.
