Recently, education field and our society have been paying too much attention to the urbanization of text book tendency so that this essay, basing the impacts of its tendency, is to seek out its reasons and find out the suitable strategies to cope with it.The essay uses the statistical methods and document research to analyze the background of the texts, pictures, writings and the content of oral communication from PEP’S primary Chinese textbook, which includes first grade to twelfth grade. From the result of the analysis, it is obvious that PEP’s primary Chinese textbook holds the tendency to the urban rather than suburban. Besides, the textbooks carry more content about the cities than the countryside. What’s even worse is that the image of the city is far better than it in countryside. This implicit that the rural is inferior to the urban, which results in much bad influences, for instance, not only is it difficult for students from rural to learn well but also increases the difficulties for teaching in countryside, resulting from these factors, the students derive from the original emotions that they should have had and the rural schools is fading away slowly as time goes by. The bad impacts shouldn’t be ignored for passing on the multi-culture from generation to generation. In order to find out the solutions to the problems, the essay analyzes the reasons of it in chapter3. Firstly, our government paid too much more attention to the urban than rural. Secondly, the curriculums were mostly controlled by our city and society. Last but not least, it was accounted for the unbalanced development of urban and rural. Finally, the essay would give the suggestions to solve the urbanization of text book tendency, to abolish the urban--rural dual structure, to modify the Chinese curriculums, to enhance the ability of textbook editors and to add to more rural contents in Chinese textbooks. Furthermore, improving the teaching approaches is as important as controlling the negative effects of it.
