Investigations And Suggestions On Current Career Planning Education For Junior Medical Students From Nanjing Medical University

Medical students’ low employment becomes an indisputable reality with the medical colleges’ continuous expansion of enrollment in recent years, and career planning education is significant for students. Comparing with students in other fields, medical students are a special group who has a long studying time and a strict educational target, their duty is to curing the sickness to save the patient in the future. A suitable career plan is not only related to their own improvement but also related to the whole social medical undertaking. In a word, It’s necessary for us to have a better understanding of medical students’ current career planning education situation and then to summarize some suggestions by analyzing shortages of current education.Methods:This article researches the current career planning education situation for junior medical students by using descriptive analysis method and get information about cognition, comments, demands of current education, the more details are as follows:self-awareness, major choosing, confidence of junior students; the situation of teachers, attitude and effects; studets’ demands for teaching ways and contents as well as expect for the future education.Results:The first one, junior medical students are lack of confidence and self-awareness, and they are not sure their career attitude. Most of them think that immature medical technology and career plan will slow their improvement. The second one, there is less classes and teachers, what is more the ways of teaching and contents are simple. The last one, students are demand for practice, consultants and multiple contents.Proposals:By means of summarizing and analyzing junior medical students’ data of career planning education, I put forward some suggestions which included:To enrich teaching contents; To reform teaching ways and create activities that most students could join in; To create a team of professional teachers to promote effects; Using face to face consultant and on-line consultant to complete group and personal service; Strengthen curricular system construction, then to establish a usual career planning education system; To improve the personal ability of looking for employment information and policy; Increase students’ confidence by creating lots of school actives and building a psychological counseling system.Conclusion:Career planning of students is a kind of occupation strategy more than a choice of occupation. A scientific education and personal professional ability are necessary for training medical talents.
