As the basic unit of society, family affects the change of socialstructure, and reflects the social role transformation of individuals. Withrapid development and transition of our society, the rentier type of socialstructure has greatly weaken the concept of marriage and family.However, as the backbone of social development, the generation after80s grew up at the beginning of the Reform and Opening-up and hasexperienced the institutional reform. Also they’re the witness ofdiversified development of social structure, so there are obviouscharacteristics difference between them and the previous generation.What’s more, divorced80’s single mother who living in the city is apowerful group in contemporary society, so it’s necessary to analysistheir psychological condition, discover their advantages and surroundingsocial support networks, in order to help them adapt to their social roletransformation. At the same time, this research also has important valuein exploring the changes of modern family structure and providingreference of developing direction about culture and social structure.Most of the domestic study of single mothers always with a viewof negative label, while ignoring the study of individual characteristics of 80s single mothers. The research object of this article are80’s singlemothers in J province S city, our purpose is that through analysis threeaspects of living difficulties, using Competency Theory, Social SupportNetwork Theory and Social Group work to help80’s single mothersrealize their advantages and abilities, so that to solve their capacity lackproblem in social adapting. Then help them go out of the shadow ofdivorce, restore self-confidence and independence, and always keeppositive attitude in life.
