The contemporary is a society which is full of informazation and life-long learning, the key lies in the education reform to develop the potential, to enhance their creative quality, so that can make the education approach suit for everyone’s promising development. And independent course as a new type is a personalized course that in order to achieve the subjective independent development, whose design is to encourage and help students to explore and look for a direction that suitable for their own development and look for a path in life, so as to realize the transformation of the functions of school and curriculum. The research of self-determination theory which exploit the biographical means lies the foundation of it, and selects100Chinese and foreign ancient and modern celebrity character as the center, and separately selects10typical characters from the Chinese and foreign famous litterateur, ideologist, politician, scientists, philosophers, militarist, artist, inventor and explorer, entrepreneurs and so on, from their learning of independent course case to explore the relationship between their successful development and the independent study, to check the practicalities and indispensability of independent curriculum, intend to ensure this theory more plentiful. This paper falls into five portions in the large:The first part is an pandect, mainly including the definition of independent course’s core concept, independent course’s origin, research significance, summarizes the research which existed and the project of the scheme.The second part is a quantitative population index analysis that the Chinese and foreign celebrities’ self-determination research, and builds on those selected100Chinese and foreign celebrities that live in ancient and modern times, uses the biographical research method to conduct a quantitative population index analysis about the life-history of Chinese and foreign celebrities’independent study, thereby writing down the feature and regulation of the Chinese and foreign celebrities in their life-learning history, and offering solid evidence for the following analyze.The third part is the research on Chinese and foreign ancient and modern celebrity biographies of typical character, and try to separately selects10typical characters from the famous litterateur, ideologist, politician, scientists, philosophers, militarist, artists, inventors, explorers, entrepreneurs and so on, through collect documents, survey and arrange, comprehensive collects these groups relevant biographical information, uses the research methods to explore the relationship between their successful development and independent course study, sums up the similarity and personality of their growing path, refining the method and characteristics of independent course study, conformity the applicatory pattern of the independent course category,in order to offer provide valuable ideas for the research of independent study’s ontology and practice methodology.The fourth part is mainly to introspection, including the introspection that the celebrities research independent course and the introspection that use biographical to study the independent course.The fifth part is the concluding remarks.
