At present, China entered into a stage of rapid development of urbanization.By the end of2013, China’s urbanization rate reached53.73%, while comparedwith the developed countries, we still have a large gap. At the same time, China’surbanization development is not balanced. The urbanization level of central andwestern region is lower than the national average, and is obvious lower than thatof the northeast region and the eastern region. In recent years, along with "Riseof Central China" and " Development of the Western China ", the central andwestern regions have entered the stage of rapid development of urbanization,while compared with other regions,its urbanization level is lower. There are manyproblems in the urbanization of central and western regions, we needs to takecorresponding measures.This paper can be divided into five parts. The first part is the introduction. Inthis part, the author elaborated the background of topic and significance ofresearch, selected research methods, and reviewed the related theory. Thesecond part is the base of research. This section contains two aspects. In thefirst aspect, the author clearly defined Urbanization, Floating Population,Transfer of the Agricultural Population, and so on.In the another aspect is thegeneral situation of regional economic and social development, includingpopulation development, social and economic development and resources andenvironment conditions. The third part is the urbanization development of centraland western regions. Firstly, compare the urbanization level of central andwestern regions with national average and other areas. Then, comparing thetrend of urbanization in the central and western regions and the urbanization development speed and other parts of the country. By analyzing the data, authorconcluded the main characteristics of the urbanization in central and westernregions. The fourth part expounds the main problems of population urbanizationin the central and western regions. In this part, the author using the knowledge ofdemographic and related disciplines, summing up five major problems ofurbanization in the central and western regions. The fifth part is conclusion andSuggestions. In this part, the author summarizes the above main ideas, try to putforward the corresponding countermeasures, including perfect the urban system,promote the population absorption capacity of urbanization area, promote theland-lost farmers become citizens, actively guide in-situ urbanization, and tomake system and policy innovation.
