Executive function is regarded as a kind of high-level cognitive function. Not only does it directly involve in the cognitive process, but also plays a vital role for the relationship between emotion and cognition. Based on the understanding of volleyball technical tactics and cognitive approach of information processing, this study used the self-developed anticipation test system of volleyball, the simulated competitive situations and eye tracker to investigate the relationship among emotion, executive function and anticipation.Study1adopted2(emotion) X2(sport level) between-subjects design to investigate the influence of emotion (joy and sad) and sport level (expert and novice) on the anticipation of volleyball players. Forty-one volleyball players participated in the experiment, the average age was19.7±2.5years. The average duration of training of the novice group (N=20) was4.7±1.8years, and that of the expert group (N=21) was7.3±2.9years. The results suggested that the anticipation performance of the expert group were significantly better than the novice group.Study2a adopted2(emotion) X2(attentional flexibility) between-subjects design to investigate the influence of emotion (joy and sad) and attentional flexibility (high/low) on the anticipation of high-level volleyball players. Twenty-seven volleyball players participated in the experiment. The average age was20.2±2.4years and the average duration of training was7.3±3.2years. The results showed that the anticipation performance of the high attentional flexibility group was significantly better than low attentional flexibility group, and the anticipation performance under joy mood condition was significantly better than under sad mood condition. There was significant interaction between attentional flexibility and emotion, and attentional flexibility moderated the influence of emotion on the anticipation.Study2b adopted2(emotion) X2(working memory capacity) between-subjects design to investigate the influence of emotion (joy and sad) and working memory capacity (high/low) on the anticipation of high-level volleyball players. Twenty-three volleyball players participated in the experiment. The average age was20.0±2.5years and the average duration of training was6.7±2.9years. The result demonstrated that the anticipation performance of the high working memory capacity group was significantly better than the low working memory capacity group, and the anticipation performance under joy mood condition was significantly better than under sad mood condition. There existed significant interaction between working memory capacity and emotion, and the effect of emotion on the anticipation depended on the working memory capacity.Study3adopted eye tracker to investigate visual search features of the high-level volleyball players with higher-level executive function under the different emotional states. The result indicated that the anticipation performance of the players was undifferentiated under both joy and sad mood conditions. The players adopted a reasonable visual search mode consisting of fewer frequency and longer duration of fixation, and the trajectory of visual search was relatively concise and effective.
