The rapid development of information technology greatly changes people’s way of living and working, and brings a strong impact on the traditional education at the same time, profoundly changing the education idea, teaching mode, teaching content and teaching method. As an important part of the integration of information technology and subject teaching, the computer aided teaching tools provide an effective way to reform the traditional education mode and cultivate innovative talents, and has become an important sign of that the informatization of education in our country is developing in depth.Mathematics is one discipline on the quantitative and spatial relations of the objective material world. "Number and calculation" is a fundamental part of primary mathematics curriculum. Because the knowledge of primary number and calculation has a certain level of abstraction, while elementary students’thinking mode is based on concrete imaginal thinking, thus pupils will encounter some certain cognitive burden while learning those contents. Therefore, it is very necessary to use the teaching tools that accord with students’cognitive characteristics in the teaching process.At present, there are some soft wares supporting Mathematics teaching at home and abroad, but soft wares specific to primary mathematics teaching are rarely, and soft wares focusing on the instruction of primary number and calculation are much less. Based on this background, taking the teaching needs of primary number and calculation as the starting point, this paper aims at building a computer aided teaching system to support the teaching of primary number and calculation effectively. The main works of this paper are as follows:1. The educational theories related to the teaching aided system are discussed, and the related technology used in the development of the system is described, and then the integration theory of information technology and the discipline teaching is expounded.2. Functional requirements of the system are analyzed. Firstly, the three function modules of the system are analyzed in detail, including the four-arithmetic operations module of number, the presenting of fractions module and fractions’calculation module. Secondly, design patterns used in the development of the system are briefly introduced and analyzed. Thirdly, the implementation mechanisms of the mathematical formula editing module are expounded.3. The design of the four computing module is carried on, including the design of the inputs of operands, the vertical representation, the structure of the calculating process records. The functions of users’ practice and error checking and dynamic display of calculating process are realized.4. According to the requirement of primary fraction teaching, the paper designs a variety of visual representation of fraction. A formula editor module is designed to support the editing of fractional expression, and a visual, intuitionistic, graphical and dynamic display of the fractional arithmetic process is provided. At last, the realization method of the system functions is analyzed in detail.This paper is an exploration and attempt of the integration of information technology and the primary mathematics teaching, providing a prototype of teaching system for primary school mathematics, and hoping to provide some valuable references for the development of similar teaching system.
