Compared with kindergarten, the first grade of primary school is facing huge changes such as learning environment, people relationship,role expectations and so on. These changes may bring adaptation problem to them in different degrees, which makes a lot of trouble to students,parents and teachers. This need to be solved.This study tries to use picture books as a tool, to make some influence to the adaptation of first grade. It contains four part.First of all, it makes some theoretical analysis for the experiment of theme picture books reading, based on research background, theoretical basics, literature review, and research significance.Secondly, project design and research case pickup. The plan is made from three aspects of time, methods and objects. Take the HangZhou H school as example, after a basic interview, it picks three typical student S1,S2, S3 as our research cases, and makes a comprehensive study on them and their families.Thirdly, it designs a plan of picture books reading on four aspects of target, content, implementation and effect. Than an analysis is taken based on the effect of picture books reading. After all, using differences of interviews which made before picture books reading and after it, and unit feedback of each research case as the quantitative analysis tool,it make more analysis on the result.The research shows, picture books reading can wholly improve the adaptation of first grade. However, there are differences when each single case, S1 gets a significant improvement of adaptation on all of the three dimensions; S2 gets regress on every dimensions, and has a hard time on adaptation; S3 maintains basically and gets a slight improvement.Finally, it discusses the reason for different effect of adaptation form personal level and family level, and makes some discussions and prospect on the usage of picture books.
