As the major part of resettlement population, the new generation of migrant workers play an essential in China’s urbanization process. The overwhelming majority previous studies concerns the adaptation to urban life. However, studies on this population from social psychological area remain rare, and their implicit cognition attitude towards migration attracts no attention so far.The general aim of our study consists of investigating both individuals’ cognition function of migrants and their social surrounding. Based on interviews and literature analysis, we establish a questionnaire about city integration willingness(sample number: n = 359). The questionnaire is used for analyzing the the content structure and individual difference about the integration willingness. Combining with questionnaire, we then conducted an implicit cognition paradigm(n = 103), forcing on the function of implicit identity on the city integration willingness and the moderating effect of social comparison.Based on the questionnaire and experimental data, our results show:(1) City integration willingness of migrant workers includes three aspects, the economic, culture and psychological integration willingness; analyzed the total and three dimensions city integration willingness of 359 migrant workers, results show that: Expect psychological integration willingness, the overall willingness, as well as the economic and cultural integration willingness are higher than moderate level, in which the economic integration willingness is the highest, followed by the cultural integration willingness, the psychological integration willingness as the lowest;(2) City integration willingness differences of migrant workers, show on economic aspect more, such as education level、housing type and marital status, their economic integration willingness exists differences, and only in the aspect of working time in the city, the psychological integration willingness exists differences. But there are no obvious differences on the overall and culture integration willingness;(3) Generally speaking, the implicit identity of migrant workers was moreinclined to “citizens”, and the participants with implicit identity as “citizens” had the higher level of total city integration willingness as well as its three dimensions than those with implicit identity as “migrant workers”;(4) The city integration willingness of migrant workers changed in the situation of migrant workers’ social comparison with citizens, in the positive condition, the total integration willingness and its cultural and psychological dimension increased significantly, whereas in the negative condition, the total integration willingness and its economic dimension reduced significantly;(5) Social comparison played as a moderator between the implicit identity and city integration willingness, in the positive condition, the total and cultural integration willingness of participants with the “citizens” identity increased to a higher degree than those of participants with the “migrant workers” identity; in the negative condition, the economic integration willingness of participants with “citizens” identity reduced to a lower degree than those of participants with “migrant workers” identity.
